damn.dev is proprietary, commercial software — and it is self-hosted: it runs on infrastructure you control and your data never leaves it. It is not open source. This page is a plain-English summary; the LICENSE shipped with the Software is the binding text.

What's free, what's licensed

  • Governance and observation are free. Install damn.dev, connect the AI agents your team already uses (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code and others), and see the tamper-evident audit trail, the registry, discovery and cost — at no charge, on your own infrastructure.
  • Running agents on the platform requires a license. Creating and running your own agents, delegation, missions and the COO — the operational workforce — needs a valid license from Distortion Labs SAS. Enterprise features and support are licensed too.

Source-reviewable under NDA

The Software is distributed as built artifacts; the source is not public. For teams deploying in sensitive or regulated environments, we make the full source available for private security review under NDA, so your security team can verify exactly what runs on your infrastructure before you trust it. What you may not do

  • Offer damn.dev as a competing hosted or managed service. Running the Software — or a substantially similar product — for paying tenants, reselling it as SaaS, or operating it as a multi-client managed offering requires a separate Commercial Partner Agreement.
  • Copy, modify, redistribute, or resell the Software, or circumvent its license-enforcement mechanisms, except under a separate written agreement.
  • Remove or alter damn.dev branding or trademarks. White-labelling requires a separate written agreement.

Your data and your configurations

This license does not touch your content. Your workspaces, agents, SOULs, memories, skills, rules and audit records are yours — stored in open formats (markdown, JSON) and fully portable, with or without us.

Commercial services

Alongside the licensed software, Distortion Labs offers the Studio engagement (the expertise to design and deploy damn.dev well) and Managed Hosting (we operate the infrastructure for you). Both are optional and carry their own contractual terms.

Partner Program

A Partner Program for service integrators and agencies — covering multi-client hosting, white-labelling and reselling under a Commercial Partner Agreement — is planned. Contact [email protected] to register interest.

Warranty & liability

The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Self-hosting is at your own risk; Distortion Labs is not liable for your operation of the Software. Paid services (Studio, Managed Hosting) carry their own contractual terms.

Trademarks

"damn.dev", its logos and brand remain the property of Distortion Labs SAS. This license grants no trademark rights beyond preserving the branding as shipped.

Changes & governing law

We may publish updated versions of this summary; the LICENSE shipped with a given release governs that release. This license is governed by French law.
